چکیده

An implementation of the weighted least absolute value (WLAV) method for obtaining an estimate of the state of the power system is presented. Most of the known WLAV methods use some form of linear programming software to find the best estimate. The paper shows that it is possible to obtain aWLAV estimate by simply applying the Newton-Raphson method to the set of equations that yield the critical points. The resulting iterative scheme corresponds to solving a sequence of linear weighted least-squares (WLS) problems. The proposed implementation enables the use of well-known techniques of WLS estimation and, consequently, facilitates the integration of the WLAV function in an energy management system. Test results on standard IEEE test systems reveal that the proposed implementation is competitive with a standard WLAV algorithm that uses a state-of-the-art implementation of an interior-point method.

Recursive Algorithm for L1 Norm Estimation in Linear Models

L1 norm estimator has been widely used as a robust parameter estimation method for outlier detection. Different algorithms have been applied for L1 norm minimization among which the linear programming problem based on the simplex method is well known. In the present contribution, in order to solve an L1 norm minimization problem in a linear model, an interior point algorithm is developed which ...

A Robust and Regularized Extreme Learning Machine

In a moment when the study of outlier robustness within Extreme Learning Machine is still in its infancy, we propose a method that combines maximization of the hidden layer’s information transmission, through Batch Intrinsic Plasticity (BIP), with robust estimation of the output weights. This method named R-ELM/BIP generates a reliable solution in the presence of corrupted data with a good gene...

Phasor Measurement Unit Based on Robust Dynamic State Estimation in Power Systems Using M-Estimators

This paper introduces the uses of Robust Dynamic State Estimation (RDSE) with Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU), The M-Estimators Quadratic Linear (QL) and Square Root (SR) Estimators have been used. For the solution of the M-estimators problem, Iteratively Re-weighted Least Squares Estimation (IRLS) method is applied. In this work, we used the Decoupled Current Measurement (DCM) method to include ...

Iteratively reweighted LASSO for mapping multiple quantitative trait loci

The iteratively reweighted least square (IRLS) method is mostly identical to maximum likelihood (ML) method in terms of parameter estimation and power of quantitative trait locus (QTL) detection. But the IRLS is greatly superior to ML in terms of computing speed and the robustness of parameter estimation. In conjunction with the priors of parameters, ML can analyze multiple QTL model based on B...
